More and more
people are now starting to get into jewelry making. Instead of spending
hundreds of dollars on a common jewelry piece, some women now prefer to create
their own unique accessories - which usually cost them lesser. So if you are
interested in this type of hobby, here are a few of the most important jewelry making
tools that need to have before you begin.
Pliers are one of
the most important
Stainless Tools to have when making metal jewelry. There are
actually different kinds of pliers used for different purposes. Round nose
pliers are a special type of pliers with rounded ends. These are made to create
loops in the wire for interconnecting different metal wires to each other.
Chain nose pliers look a lot similar to round nose pliers but with a flattened
inner edge. They are used more for griping metal wires and rings. Bent nose
pliers have the same form as the chain nose pliers but are bent on a certain
angle. And finally, there are the flat nose pliers which have a smooth flat
surface used for straightening wires and for holding them in place.
Pliers are one of
the handiest tools common for many skillful trades and occupations. It has
parallel handles, an axle where the handles join and a parallel mouth that
takes hold of the object. Flat Nose Pliers: This is the most common type
of pliers in the tool shed which is mainly used for gripping objects with great
compression loads. Usually flat nose pliers come with a wire cutter that has
the same function as a lineman's pliers. The disadvantage of this type of
pliers is in gripping objects with slim spaces. There is more of a brute force
than finesse. Round Nose Pliers: Also a critical partner in craft making, round
nose pliers are used for creating round shaped wires for earrings, necklaces
and bracelets. This type of pliers is the same as the long nose pliers, and
offers the same disadvantages.
Through time the
pliers have evolved to having different kinds and different functions. But
since its beginnings the commercially available pliers currently did not vary
that much from the very first ones. The same concept as that with the first one
is still used. A bolt & nut is placed around a third from the tip of the
pliers. The moment of arm principle is used to hold the object tighter while
applying minimum force to the handles. As technology continues to develop, more
and more variety of pliers have been made to aide every possible need and want.
Commonly, these aides are mainly used in machine shops, craft shops, and
electrical related jobs. Now pliers have mechanisms that lock and grip the object
in place.
